About Us
The agriculture and natural resources department provides information and educational programs related to commercial agriculture, professional horticulture, and environmental issues. Programs designed for farmers focus on farm production, farm profitability, integrated pest management (IPM), and applied agricultural research. This department offers education and outreach on topics such as soil testing, identification of plant pests, agricultural marketing education, and pesticide safety. This department also offers publications on a wide range of agricultural, horticultural, and environmental subjects.
In Hunterdon County, the Rutgers NJAES agricultural agent specializes in tree fruit fertility management and apple cultivar evaluation, as well as the production of hazelnuts, hops, and beach plums as specialty crops.
